Meeting on microscale analytical techniques (November 30 from 1:45 pm at LSCE)

In the frame of the scientific and technical animation of the Panoply platform, the afternoon of Thursday, November 30 from 1:45 pm will be devoted to microscale analytical techniques and their contributions in the field of Earth Sciences and isotope geochemistry. This meeting will be held at the Ormes des Meurisiers, Building 701 Room 17c.

Three speakers will be present,

-D. Blamart (LSCE), will present the contributions of Micromill to the sampling of (bio) carbonates (corals, speleothems, otoliths ...) for stable isotope analyzes and trace elements mainly in the field of paleoclimatology.

-C. Rollion-Bard (IPGP) will expose the general principles of the ion microprobe, an instrument used in Earth Sciences in very different fields ranging from cosmochemistry to biogeochemical studies. During this presentation, she will evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of this type of measurement as well as the various parameters to be determined before the analysis. Some applications will illustrate the presentation.

-C Pecheyran (University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour ) will present the PAMAL analytical platform dedicated mainly to the analysis of elementary and isotopic traces in solids by femtosecond laser ablation coupled to inductively coupled mass spectrometry ( ICPMS Quad, HR-ICPMS, MC-ICPMS). After an exhaustive description of the instrumental device, he will present on various examples including the microchemistry of biocarbonates as well as practical examples such as the fight against counterfeiting.
